7 Common Funnel Freedom Mistakes Beginners Make (And How to Avoid Them)

When I first joined Funnel Freedom, I was excited — finally, a done-for-you system that could help me build an online business without spending months figuring out the tech.
But like every beginner, I stumbled a few times- honestly, many times!:)

The truth is, most new users make the same avoidable mistakes — and they can slow your progress or even stop your funnel from working correctly.

So let’s fix that. Here are seven common Funnel Freedom mistakes and what you can do differently to get better results from day one.

Mistake #1 – Skipping the Free Webinar

So many people sign up and dive straight into building their funnel without ever watching the free training.

That webinar isn’t fluff — it’s your blueprint. Jonathan Montoya explains precisely how the system fits together and how the income model works.

If you skip it, you miss the strategy behind the setup.

👉 Pro Tip:
Before touching anything inside your dashboard, take 30 minutes to watch the whole session. It’ll save you hours of confusion later. This is also a video to help you understand the system or program.

Mistake #2 – Not Connecting an Email Autoresponder

funnel freedom mistakes

Your funnel can collect leads all day — but if your email automation isn’t connected, those names go nowhere.

This is one of the most significant beginner errors. Your autoresponder is what sends your welcome emails and follow-ups that build trust (and sales). As they say, the money is in the email list! Don’t let it slip away.

Fix it:
Use MailerLite (free up to 1,000 subscribers) or ConvertKit. Inside Funnel Freedom, go to Integrations → Email Marketing → Connect API Key.
Then test it by signing up with your own email to confirm you get the first message.

Mistake #3 – Forgetting to Update Affiliate Links

It sounds obvious, but it happens constantly — beginners forget to replace the default buttons with their own affiliate link, and commissions go to someone else.

Funnel Freedom comes with default links; you need to follow the training and replace them with your personal links so you get credit for referring someone who clicks your links

Fix it:
Every button that says “Watch Free Training” or “Get Started” should have your personal tracking link:

Check each page (opt-in page, thank-you page, emails) before publishing.

Mistake #4 – Over-Customizing the Funnel

I get it — you want your funnel to look unique. But changing too many design elements can break formatting and hurt conversions.

The default Funnel Freedom templates are already optimized for clarity and clicks. There is a reason why the funnel looks that way. It is, do not over-customize.

Fix it:
Only tweak small things — your brand color, logo, or profile image. Keep the layout, button placement, and copy structure as-is.

Mistake #5 – Not Testing the Funnel Before Sharing

Imagine posting your link everywhere… and realizing the thank-you page doesn’t load or the email never arrives. Ouch.

Testing takes 5 minutes and prevents lost leads.

Fix it:
1️⃣ Open your funnel in a private tab.
2️⃣ Opt in with your own email.
3️⃣ Confirm that the thank-you page loads + emails arrive.

If something fails, check your integrations or reconnect your autoresponder. You need to check that everything is working before publishing.

Mistake #6 – Giving Up Too Early

The hardest part isn’t building your funnel — it’s staying consistent.

Many new marketers expect overnight results and quit within weeks. But Funnel Freedom works best when you give it time: create daily content, share your link regularly, and grow your email list.

Fix it:
Commit to 30 days of action or more before judging results. Small, steady steps > big bursts then burnout. Be consistent and treat it as your business. If you are serious, you need to focus on making it work.

Mistake #7 – Ignoring the Community

Inside Funnel Freedom, there’s an entire community of members sharing their wins, traffic tips, and tech fixes.

If you try to do everything alone, you’ll miss free help and accountability.

I have joined the community after buying the program. I read about the ups and downs people encounter on the journey, about wins, about problem-solving cases, and more. I use the community as a guide and source of inspiration from those ahead of me.

Fix it:
Join the official Facebook group or community hub. Ask questions, connect, and celebrate small wins. The support you get there will keep you motivated long term.

💛 Final Thoughts

Every mistake on this list is fixable. What matters most is that you start, keep learning, and stay consistent.

The people who see results with Funnel Freedom aren’t the ones who never mess up — they’re the ones who adjust quickly and keep going.

If you haven’t watched the official training yet, start there. It’ll make every step easier.
